Abstract

This paper examines the civilizational role of the Arabian Gulf islands as depicted in classical sources from the 4th century BCE to the 4th century CE. Classical Greek and Roman historians and geographers produced a wealth of significant scholarly works that serve as authoritative references for the history of regions within their sphere of interest and influence, most notably the Ancient Near East, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Arabian Gulf region in particular.

In this context, the study focuses on monitoring the invaluable information provided by classical writers regarding the Arabian Gulf islands, including their strategic locations, physical features, and geographical characteristics. Furthermore, it explores accounts that illuminate their civilizational role, social conditions, and economic activities during that era.

The research employs a scientific methodology based on the descriptive and analytical treatment of information found in classical sources, synthesizing these accounts with archaeological findings to reach objective historical facts.
