Article Publishing Charges

The Article Publishing Charge for Journal of Tropical and Infectious Diseases is $100 (USD).  This covers the costs of the peer-review process, copyediting, typesetting, publication on our website, marketing, and indexing in major databases. To ensure the integrity of peer review, our team of editors and reviewers receive no information about payments at any stage.

How and when to pay

Once your article is accepted after peer review, the billing party will receive an invoice which outlines the Article Publishing Charge (APC) that was pledged on submission, the payment terms and how to pay. Depending on your location, these charges may be subject to local taxes.

Waivers and discount policy

Researchers based in less economically developed countries are able to apply for waivers and discounts to allow them to publish in this journal. Corresponding authors based in low-income countries, as categorized by the World Bank, may be eligible for a full waiver of the APC.  However, this journal currently have waiver policy for the following countries: Zimbabwe, Uganda, Iran and Nigeria.

Discretionary APC waivers will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the point of submission; requests made during the review process or after acceptance will not be considered. To ensure the integrity of peer review, our team of editors and reviewers receive no information about payments at any stage.

Other Waiver Cases

Membership schemes

Your institution may be part of the Royallite Global pre-payment membership scheme, which also covers open access publications. In case your institution is part of the scheme, then the full cost of Open Access publishing may already be covered.

If your institution is not part of the pre-payment scheme, don’t worry! Many institutions have allocated funds to support the cost of Open Access publishing for their staff and most funding bodies will allow authors to use part of their research grant to cover the cost of publishing charges. All authors considering open access publishing should talk to their librarian and faculty about the availability of support.
